• Which Plum trampoline is best for my child?
Choosing the right Plum trampoline for your child or children depends on a few different factors, including their age, height, and weight. However, it also depends on your available outdoor space and how your children use it, as you’ll need a trampoline that fits well with enough space around it.
Smaller trampolines are suitable for younger children from 3–6 years old, while medium-size trampolines are best for children between 6–10 years old. Larger trampolines may be used by children from 6 years plus throughout adolescence, as long as they don’t exceed the weight limit.
When it comes to the models available from this prestigious brand, the Plum Magnitude has the most size options available. As a standard above-ground round trampoline, it comes in 5 sizes ranging from 6ft to 14ft, but you must make sure the age and weight range specified in the product description matches your child – e.g. smaller models are only suitable for 50–75kg or less.
For first-time jumpers, the hexagonal 7ft Plum Junior Jumper is a fun, colourful alternative option. Being closer to the ground, it’s suitable for children from 3 years old, and can also be used as an indoor trampoline if you have the space for it inside.
Older and more adventurous kids over 6 years old may want to try more premium models, like the 10ft Plum Web, which has a larger jumping mat than other round trampolines thanks to its Springsafe design. Meanwhile, a Plum Oval trampoline is a good choice if you want a larger model with a bigger bounce and more jumping points.
The most exciting model we have at Wicken Toys is the 14ft Plum Bowl Freebound, which combines a uniquely contoured design and the latest silent bungee technology to deliver an incredibly dynamic bouncing experience. It’s also currently on display at our site in Milton Keynes, along with several other Plum trampolines and climbing frames, so why not come visit to see it in action for yourself?
• Are Plum above-ground trampolines safe?
Above-ground trampolines are just as safe as any other type of trampoline, as long as they are properly constructed, secured to the ground, and used as instructed. As a leading manufacturer of outdoor play equipment for children, Plum also innovates plenty of additional safety features.
For example, the Plum Magnitude trampoline model has a ‘3G’ safety enclosure, with a frame made of 6 steel posts which curve outwards to create a safety net that maximises jumping space. Many other Plum trampolines feature the Springsafe system, which joins the trampoline bed to the safety pads to completely separate children from the trampoline parts while they’re jumping.
Springsafe trampolines include the Plum Junior Jumper and the Plum Oval. Others, like the Plum Premium Web and Plum Bowl Freebound models, use an even more advanced version of Springsafe technology that uses elasticated bungee webbing instead of traditional springs.
As long as the Plum trampoline you choose is set up correctly in a suitable space, and children learn to play on it according to the product instructions – including only one user at a time, and no dangerous flips or tricks – then trampolining will become a fun, happy, and safe hobby for them.
• Which Plum trampoline accessories are available?
At Wicken Toys, we stock accessories to help secure your Plum trampoline to the ground, make it easier for children to climb onto the trampoline, and protect the bouncing surface against the elements when the trampoline isn’t in use.
A Plum trampoline anchor kit is available with ground stakes and adjustable straps for securing the structure into the ground below it. If your chosen model doesn’t come with a ladder, you can purchase this individual adjustable Plum trampoline ladder with three treads.
Similarly, not all models come with a cover included, so you may want to purchase a Plum trampoline cover separately to keep garden debris from collecting on it. These clip-on covers are available in three different sizes to fit 10ft, 12ft, and 14ft trampolines.
These accessories also come at a discounted price when you purchase them along with a Plum trampoline, which will be explained in the product description. Alternatively, you may want to save money by purchasing them all together in a Plum trampoline accessory kit, and receive the discount on top when buying with a Plum trampoline.
Each trampoline comes with its own enclosure, so you shouldn’t need to buy a separate trampoline safety net (though it’s recommended to replace them after a year or so). Please note that accessories from other brands may not be compatible with Plum trampolines.
